ABOUT FREE MICHIGAN

FreeMichigan is essentially my attempt to stay sane.  I'm no one special, just a random guy who has lived in Michigan his entire life.  I started this site because I've been absolutely blown away by what our state government officials have done to the freedoms of Michigan citizens under the justification of Covid-19. 

 

I am not a government expert nor do I consider myself to be some patriotic freedom fighter.  My motivations are far simpler than that.  In short, I don't think two year-olds should be forced to wear masks to daycare and I do think people should be able to go to county fairs. I also don't believe it is the duty of the healthy to alter a generational way of life for the sake of an incredibly small amount of unhealthy people.  I do not apologize for that belief because I believe it is the belief every American generation has lived by since the founding of the  country, and I would never ask anyone to make such wholesale changes for my sake if I were the one who was sick.  

 

At my core, I am upset because a government that has no right to do so has imposed its will on my children's lives in ways never before seen in my lifetime.  And no, I do not believe my family's rights have been infringed upon in any way that is comparable to other major injustices of history, but I do believe a slippery slope starts somewhere and we are at the top of one now. So while the stakes are not yet nearly as high as some historical situations from the past, I still believe it is the duty of those who are able to speak out against the infringement of freedoms that could potentially change the way our children live forever, to do so.
